I use my Leica M5 without a meter to shoot candid B&W photos of the moments off the set of the models. Like putting on make-up. Going to the bathroom. Intimate moments. I use Tri-X with available light. I develop the film in D-76 or use Rodinal developer.
I use my Nikon FE2 with a 55mm macro lens and my Hasselbad with an 80 mm lens for shooting formal shots of models. I use a Polaroid back on my Hasselbad body. I preserve the Polaroid 665 by sticking the exposed Polaroid negative in sodium sulfite solution for up to ten hours (the shorter the better, with a minimum of fifteen minutes). I wash the 665 negative for 15 minutes in running water, then dip it in photo flo and hang it up to dry in a dust free area. I take off the excess photo flo with a fine sponge.
I take hand strobe shots with a Vivitar 283 flash. I do formal studio shots with a thousand watt Luz pack with three heads. I use 50% of the light in a medium-sized chimera. I use a hair light with 25% of the light bounced into an umbrella and 25% of the light into an umbrella for side lighting.
I print my B&W photos on Polyfiber F double weight paper in Dektol developer 1 to 1. I use Fuji 100 35mm film and Ektachrome EPN for 2 1/4 color shooting. I use Ilford FP4 B&W film for my 2 1/4 camera.
I videotape my shootings with a Canon LP1 camcorder and I light the scene with Lowell Omni hot lights. I use Fuji 60 minute HP Hi 8 videotapes.
